Research into the "Battle Of Little Big Horn" inspired several carvings. But the story that touched me the most, was of the
legendary warrior Crazy Horse. A story in Time Life Books describes the mystic vision of Crazy Horse that gave him the courage in
battle to become the legendary leader: “A man came riding, light and airy, on a bay, then a yellow-spotted war horse, floating as in a
mist. Arrows and lead balls went toward the dream-figure but did not hit him. He had painted on his cheek a zigzag of lightning; on his
body were marks of hailstones. There was a storm, with dark rolling clouds and thunder; the man rode through the violent storm. Over
his head flew a small red-backed hawk.”
The Walnut carving is 12" high x 24" wide x 12" deep and will be my first "in-the-round" carving to be cast in bronze. Limited
editions of the bronze will be available at $5,500 retail. Anyone interested can contact me by email: bill.churchill@att.net

Those waiting and wondering are seldom talked about, yet their stories of bravery can be equally as great. This is my tribute to those unsung heroes left behind, waiting and watching for his return. |
